Instances by Process Definition Interface

This topic describes the fields in the interface and the operations that can be performed therein.

Instances by Process Definition Interface

The following table describes the fields in the Instances by Process Definition interface in Process Instance Manager pages.

Note: The business identifiers associated with the business process model are shown in this interface. When the business identifiers associated to business process model are modified, then

  • only those business identifiers associated with the latest published or deployed business process model are shown in this interface.
  • only the business identifier values of the latest published or deployed business process model are displayed in this interface. However, the values of the modified business identifiers of the previous instances will not be displayed. To view those values, you can right-click the relevant instance and select Show Business Identifiers option.

Field

Description

Process Name

Displays the name of the process model whose process instances you are viewing.

Description

Displays the description of the process model whose process instances you are viewing.

Start Time

Displays the date and time at which the process instance of the business process model was initiated.

Status

Displays the status of the process instance such as Debug, Completed, Terminated, Waiting, and Aborted.

Type

Displays details where from the process instance was executed. For example, Process Debugger or Run from Process Designer and so on.

Show Sub-processes

Click to view the sub-process instance details of a process instance.

Show Activities

Click to view the activities instance details of a process instance.

Show Original Process

Click to view the original process instance. For example, while executing a process, if an activity fails, you can rectify the error and execute the process again. This will start a new instance. So when you click Show Original Process, the initial process that was executed will be displayed.

Show Substitute Process

Click to view the activities instance details of the substitute process.

Show Parent Process

Click to view the parent process of the corresponding sub-process. This option is enabled for sub-processes only.
Note: This option is not available for process instances that were migrated from earlier versions of Process Platform. It is available only for instances that were instantiated in Cordys BOP 4.1.

Operations in Instances by Process Definition Interface

The following table describes the operations that can be performed in the Instances by Process Definition Interface

If you want to perform operation...

Right-click a process instance or select a process instance and...

Suspend

Select Suspend to suspend the process instance. Alternatively, click on the toolbar.
Note: You can suspend process instances that have the status Running or Waiting.

Resume

Select Resume to resume the execution of the process instance. Alternatively, click on the toolbar.
Note: You can resume only the process instances that have the status Suspended or Debug Ready.

Restart

Select Restart to restart a process instance. Alternatively, click on the toolbar.
Note: You can restart only the process instances that have the status Aborted.

Terminate

Select Terminate a process instance. Alternatively, click on the toolbar. You can terminate a process instance if it is not Complete.

Skip Activity

When you do not want an aborted activity to be executed again, select Skip Activity. Doing this, will ensure that the current activity is skipped and the immediate next activity is executed. Alternatively, click on the toolbar.

Show Graphical View

When you want to view the flow sequence of activities in the business process graphically, select Show Graphical View. Alternatively, click on the toolbar to view the process instance in graphical views.

Show Process Logs

Process logs display the cause for errors for a specific process instance. This helps you to save time without having to view the log message from the file system. Select Show Process Logs. Alternatively, click on the toolbar to view the log information for the process instance in the Log Viewer.

Show Start Message

Select Show Start Message. Alternatively, click on the toolbar to view the start message for the process instance.

Show End Message

Select Show End Message. Alternatively, click on the toolbar to view the end message for the process instance.

Show/Edit Message Map

Select Show/Select Edit Message Map to view the message map or to edit the message map. Alternatively, click on the toolbar to view the message map for the process instance.

Show Business Identifier Values

Select Show/Select Edit Message Map to view the values of a business identifier(s) used in the process instance. Alternatively, click on the toolbar to view the business identifier values for the process instance.

Show Message Queue

Select Show Message Queue to view the queues for the incoming messages for the selected process instance. In the Queues for Incoming Messages - View the Queues for the process, the List View tab displays individual Receive Message for the process instance whereas, the All View tab displays all the Receive Messages that are in queue for the selected process instance.

Show Error Text

Select Show Error Text. Alternatively, click on the toolbar to view the error text for the process instance.

Debug

Select Debug. Alternatively, click on the toolbar to run the process instance in the debugger view.
